Burglars decamped with eight silver idols of Jain deities from a temple in the city on Thursday.
The temple is situated a few kilometres from Sadar and Vidhayakpuri police stations.
However, the burglars did not touch the antique idols and other important idols in the temple, police said.
"They removed a water cooler from outside the temple to enter it.
Prima facie it seems that the burglars were not professional enough to understand the value of other antique idols which were not been touched," said commissioner of police B L Soni.
"We have got some concrete clues," he added.
Deputy commissioner of police (south), Jose Mohan and other officers visited the spot.
An FSL team and a dog squad also reached the place.
