About our Effort as from May 1st

The full-scale rescue activity of cultural heritage has begun. Will the Government, the municipal office or public institutions gather information for us? Will they control us to work well or lead us? Or, if we officially request them to support us, can we participate in the rescue operation in peace? …The answer is “NO”. It NEVER happens. If we are just sitting and waiting, the historical materials would have completely vanished. The reality is serious, and we have to fight against the passing time. In the devastated area and the field where the rescue operation is being carried out, many people are struggling Please help us, and support us. And, please tell about our activities to your neighbours.

[The last week’s activity report]

1. The group making lantern slides held the regular meeting on May 2nd.

2. We got a offer from the Yamagata Prefectural Yonezawa Women’s Junior College saying they would lend us a room as a space for the damaged historical materials as an urgent measure, so we previewed the facilities on May 4th.

3. We are gathering information from the institutions which are concerned with the cultural properties and the Network for Preserving Historical Materials in each area about their activities, and relaying details to our members from time to time.

4. We did preparation for the rescue operation in Iwate Prefecture on May 10th.

[This week’s objective]

1. On May 9th, we will transfer a part of the rescued materials whose operation was done on April 25th from the Tohoku University of Arts and Design to Yamagata Prefectural Yonezawa Women’s Junior College. We appreciate your participation.
